FAQs

How do you install the GPS09 Module?+

Installing the Aim GPS09 Module involves mounting the antenna on a metal-free, unobstructed surface like the roof or top of the dash for maximum satellite visibility, then simply connecting it via a CAN cable to your Aim logger or dash.

Does the Aim GPS09 Module have an inertial platform?+

The standard Aim GPS09 Module does not have an inertial platform. If you're looking for a GPS module with an inertial measurement unit (IMU), opt for the GPS09 Pro versions, which feature a 6-axis 100Hz IMU with a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope.

Is GPS Manager used in the Aim GPS09 Module?+

The Aim GPS09 Module uses GPS Manager software to provide accurate lap times and telemetry data, allowing you to effectively analyse your data and improve racing performance.

What is the difference between the Aim GPS08 and the GPS09?+

The Aim GPS09 Module is essentially an upgraded and newer version of the Aim GPS08. The GPS09 has a more precise 25Hz GPS, faster signal locking and improved predictive lap timing.

What is the difference between the Aim GPS09 Module and the GPS09 Open version?+

Although the Aim GPS09 Module and the GPS09 Open both deliver high-precision, 25Hz GPS data using multiple satellite constellations, their differences lie in their compatibility. The GPS09 Open offers broader compatibility with non-Aim systems. In Race Studio 3, its CAN output can be converted into a CAN input protocol and incorporated into a merged/custom ECU protocol, allowing GPS data to be received through the ECU CAN stream. Alternatively, the standard GPS09 Module is primarily designed as a direct plug and play expansion for Aim ecosystems.

Which products are compatible with the Aim GPS09 Module?+

The GPS09 Module is designed to work seamlessly with other Aim products and systems. It can be paired with Aim data loggers to get a comprehensive breakdown of your time on track.
