What does the MXP Strada do?+
The Aim MXP Strada is a digital dash display that can be configured to show real time information from the car's ECU, analogue/digital inputs, predefined math channels and an optional GPS Module. It provides crucial information like lap times, gear, speed, RPM and engine temperatures on a high-contrast TFT screen.
What is a TFT dash display?+
A TFT (thin-film transistor) dash display is a customisable digital screen that uses thin-film transistors to control individual pixels, resulting in vibrant colours, sharp images and high contrast, making it a common feature in many modern race cars.
What size is the MXP display?+
The MXP features a 6", 800 x 480 pixel resolution display, making it one of the smallest displays in the MX Strada series.
What alarms can be set on the MXP Strada?+
The MXP Strada comes with 5 customisable RGB LEDs, which are determined by inputs from the car's ECU or other sensors. The MXP Strada with race icons can be configured with alarms for gear position, lap time improvement, throttle position, low fuel, low oil pressure, low oil level and other customised alarms that have been set.
What are the best applications for the MXP Strada with race icons?+
The MXP Strada with race icons is best suited to various motorsport setups, including track day cars, kit cars & competitive race cars.
What are the differences between the MXP logger and the MXP Strada?+
The main difference between the MXP logger and the MXP Strada display is that the logger version has a built-in data logger. However, a Strada Logger can be purchased for the MXP Strada, which records data to an SD card. The MXP logger also has 2 digital outputs, whereas the Strada only has 1. How do I display gear information on my MXP Strada?+
Selected gear information can be sourced by gear potentiometer, ECU stream message, or it can be calculated in real time by the MXP Strada through speed and RPM. Each mode requires a specific gear configuration.
How do you switch between pages on the Aim MXP Strada?+
To switch pages on the Aim MXP Strada, first open our free Race Studio 3 software and then select the Page Configuration to customise each page. After choosing your selections, save your configurations and press the ">>" push button on the side of the device to switch between your pages.
How do I connect & configure my SmartyCam with MXP Strada?+
To connect and configure your SmartyCam with MXP Strada, you need to connect the devices, set up the configuration in Race Studio 3, and then transmit the configuration to the device. First, ensure your SmartyCam has power and a formatted SD card. Next, launch Race Studio 3 on your PC, which will detect the devices. Then, go to the "Configurations" page to create a new configuration or edit an existing one and add the "SmartyCam Stream" layer. In this layer, you will associate the necessary functions with the channels and transmit the configuration to the device.
How do I connect my MXP Strada to my car’s engine control unit (ECU)?+
Use the main harness and connect to the correct wires for your communication bus (CAN, RS232 or K-Line) by physically wiring the correct wires from your harness to the ECU's data ports and power/ground pins. Then, configure the connection in Race Studio 3 by selecting your ECU manufacturer and model under the "ECU Stream" tab.
How do I connect my MXP Strada to the car’s OBDII connector?+
Use a dedicated OBDII wiring harness and configure the MXP Strada with Race Studio 3. The process involves a physical connection followed by software setup to identify your car's specific ECU protocol. More information can be found here.
